• Click on Start menu, and Run...

• Type regedit into the field, and click on OK

• Expand HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE > SOFTWARE > Microsoft > Office > 11.0 >          Registration

• Click on the item, composed of a combination of numbers and letters.

• Hold Ctrl on your keyboard, and click on DigitalProductID and ProductID.

• Press Delete and click on Yes.

Tips

• Create a System Restore Point before trying out these instructions. It will allow you to restore your operating system, if anything goes wrong with the Registry.

• Registry Editor allows you to personalize your computer, and make it more accessible.

• Consider Open Source alternatives for all proprietary software: OpenOffice.org is an office suite comparable or superior to the "Pro" versions of Microsoft Office, yet is free, as in both freedom and beer.

• Back in step 4 right click the key of letters and numbers and choose Export. Give the file a name and keep it handy. Double-clicking the file in the future will bring all the deleted keys in the next step back. This is smaller and faster than a full restore of your computer. Further, you can edit this file in notepad and remove all BUT the two keys deleted in step five. Now you have a file to double-click which will exactly restore your deletions to the registry. You can double-click this file multiple times, it will only add them if they are missing, it won't add them multiple times.

• Write down the changes and initial values. You may later need to restore the Registry as it was.

Warnings

• Do not delete anything other than what is needed. You should backup registry beforehand.

• Some associations in the Registry, if removed, will crash other functioning programs or Windows itself.

• Avoid using Third-party software to change the Product key. It might be malicious.
